The Dogecoin Foundation just published their “Trailmap” for 2022, and one of the most interesting things in their pipeline is Doge Staking.
And is there anyone better in the world to advise on how to add staking capabilities to a Proof-Of-Work blockchain than Vitalik Buterin, the renowned founder of Ethereum who’s currently navigating its own transition into crypto staking?
Probably not, so that’s exactly who they recruited for the mission.
The Foundation are also working with Vitalik (Founder of the Ethereum blockchain) on crafting a uniquely Doge proposal for a ‘Community Staking’ version of PoS that will allow everyone, not just the big players to participate in a way that rewards them for their contribution to running the network, and at the same time gives back to the whole community through charitable causes.
Vitalik discussed this potential collaboration on Twitter back in September, saying

Doge Staking is definitely an exciting concept, and one that if integrates well, will help push the 12th ranked currency by market cap into even higher highs. One thing’s for sure though – Elon must be very excited.
Ethereum Founder Joins Dogecoin Board Of Advisors
It’s no secret that Vitalik Buterin is a long term lover of the meme crypto, and in the past even admitted to making over $4.3M in profit from his $25K investment into DOGE.
At the beginning, people didn’t take Doge very seriously. I just remember thinking to myself, ‘how am I going to explain to my mom that I just invested $25,000 into Dogecoin?’ like, the only interesting thing about this coin is a logo of a cute dog. But of course, that was one of the best investments I have ever made.
Vitalik joined the Dogecoin Foundation as an official advisor back in August, but up until now it didn’t seem like he was involved in any significant projects.

With Doge Staking now on the menu, that is obviously about to change. The exact details of how Proof-Of-Stake is going to be integrated into Dogecoin remain to be seen and will of course be posted on CryptoStaker as we hear more.
